Every summer the Cognashene Cottagers hold their annual regatta on the Civic Holiday long weekend. The regatta is a family event open to all but in particular events are geared towards the youth of the area. Children and teenagers from age 2 to age 16 are welcomed to participate in swimming, canoeing and rowing races. Spectators are always welcome to help cheer on the contestants. For the older cottagers we have the Master's events to allow our cottagers to prove that they've 'still got it'. At the end of the day we stage our novelty events that mix young and old alike in fun races that entertain all. A part of the weekend is the long distance swim, held in an area annouced prior to the weekend. The location of the regatta is determined each year prior to the event and announced to the public in the summer newsletter. As might be expected a day of this magnitude takes many hours of work to organize and the regatta committee is always looking for a helping hand.
